Component-X™ is an open environment that allows users, solution providers, and enterprise component developers to work together to meet customer requirements.

The real leverage of a component solution is reuse - with, ultimately, an open marketplace of enterprise components. Component-X™ is facilitating an environment of "best of breed" application components being used and integrated using open standards, as well as facilitating the infrastructure to support that environment.

This represents an opportunity for companies and developers with line-of-business or legacy application expertise to provide enterprise components and sell them in this open marketplace. There is the opportunity, too, to supply the infrastructure for these components. Unlike UI "widgets," these are Web service enabled application are elements that companies needs and want, on an infrastructure that will grow with their needs.
